Passenger services have recommenced at Edinburgh Airport after a major technical issue at the control tower halted all operations.

All aircraft movements were stopped because of an technical fault that arose around 08:30.

A number of travelers reported being stuck in aircraft on the tarmac as the outage continued.

Services Recommence with Continued Disruption

A statement indicated at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and thanked passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

That said, ongoing issues are expected to continue throughout the day. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been axed, with many others experiencing delays.

An airport representative had initially projected that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be impacted.

"Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their individual travel plans," officials reiterated.

The airport attributed the widespread suspension to an systems failure with its ATC service provider.

Passengers continue to be advised to check the status of their journey before traveling to the hub as knock-on effects are cleared.
